"the communist bar", as it's sometimes referred... great local dive bar that features a DDR theme with a really cool vibe. darkly lit with wrought iron candle holders... good drink menu that is surprisingly modern for the style of place that it is. cheap and friendly wait staff with table service!! and friedrichshain is the perfect area for it! i love this place...

Crazy weird and something out of David Lynch with a DDR twist. There's a freakking DDR school poem / speech on the wall.
Anyways, want to get a kick out of berlin without the young annoying crowd . . .go here, get a joy out of the scenery, sink into part of your unprentious personality and grab a beer. . . -

quirky place, interior is really interesting... dark and cosy too.
pretty cheap too. service can be a bit grumpy!
